Dogtober

I'm not sure when Dogtober moved to Puptember but there were three canine fall fests last Sunday and we were beside ourselves.
It was tough to choose but I picked the one closest to New Glarus, one of my favorite places for festivals, bratwurst and fiberglass cows.
It turned out to be a great choice because not only did I get a close up look at Christian Rock fans waving their hands in the air like they just didn't careah—or careahed a lot, including a lady who had fallen backward off a picnic table bench—but there were free brats. FREE brats so I was in heaven (no pun intended). The gray-haired Christian rock fan was looked after and fine, waving about like an inflatable air dancer when we left.
Back to Puptember.
There were two Great Pyranese hanging out in the Wisconsin Brewing Company tap room and this pup was one of the most earnest dogs I've ever met. He had the grace of a white Bengal tiger with the welcoming manner of an employee at the Lake Mills Dollar General. High praise as I've become a dollar store connoisseur thanks to my mother.
There were dogs in costume, the best cream soda ever, music and a gift shop for my cousin to buy "growlers." Fitting don't you think? I didn't see any growlers or prowlers but plenty of jowlers and one or two howlers.
Here's hoping you like photos of canine cosplayers because I'll be posting a lot of them as well as pups going au naturel.

Have a cup of coffee.

And enjoy the only Halloween dog song I could think of. (Because the dog is named, "Boo!")

A tortoise looking for a hare, i.e, the other half of his costume. "Bet she's at the bar."

You know, Debra, we both made a commitment to this thing

Dog trolls, aka Drolls. I must have the Twin Peaks purse next to the unfinished beer (as rare in WI as escaping the Black Lodge)

Those better be stuffed in chicken, wrapped in bacon and rolled in dead fish

You got a real attitude problem, McFly

Who's hungry for Goldfish?

Hopes none of his friends see him here

  1. Hello, the dogs are all adorable. I love the cute costumes too. But, the last photo is my favorite. Looks like my old lab. Great photos. Thank you so much for linking up your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

    1. He was walking around the staging area with the judge so he had to look at his fellow canines in costumes. This is probably his reaction to the troll doll terriers.

    1. No need but it sure is funny and all the dogs I saw were quite happy to be there. The weather was sunny and cool and everybody was having a great time. I love to see events that encourage pups and their owners to participate and socialize.

  6. Oh my so cute. I've never heard of Dogtober or Puptember. I sadly had to say goodbye to my beautiful fur baby last May and miss her every day.
Thanks for making me smile :D

    1. There seem to be more every year and all happening in September. So many that they start to cancel each other out, which is a shame because otherwise I'd go to all of them.

  11. Personally I think the nude dog has less to be embarrassed than any of the others, but that's just me. Neat event though.

    1. It's one of those songs I think about from time to time. They got more attention than the "naked" dogs and really seemed to love it, Mascha. This place turns out to be very dog friendly and lets the pups in the bar too.

  17. ps...you ask me about being a Denver Bronco fan and Astros fan? Well, I grew up in Colorado, raised my kids there...living near Denver for nearly 50 years. And now, being a transplant Texan, I like [always have] liked Houston teams.

    Have a great day.

    1. Ahh, of course. For some reason I was thinking Padre Island which wouldn't be any better for you hurricane wise. I'm a Steelers and Dodgers fan and having lived in WI all my life have no good excuse for it. My prediction is that the Dodgers will play Cleveland or Houston in the WS, whaddya think?

  23. Hi Jeanna, I wish I lived where you do! It's all brats, festivals and pooches. I very much doubt that any of those dogs will ever hold their head up in public again. But how funny. I love the Westie, it's not at all bothered as long as it gets it's treat! I do love your posts, you have the craziest festivals and why not? Life is short!

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.
