Giant White Chicken

I overshot my birthday trip by a 100 miles or so on day 1, ended up in Minnie Sota, got caught in the rain, pulled over for speeding and had myself a little adventure. At one point I kept thinking if I can only make it to the giant white chicken I'll be okay.
Bonus Birthday Present: The nice young cop let me off with a warning and I must have been knackered because I neglected to get a photo.

Mmm, road chicken

  1. It's a great photo but why is there a giant white chicken? Glad to hear you escaped the cops! #MySundayPhoto

    1. It's a broasted chicken place on the Great River Road. I was there too early I think but I smelled something delicious.

  2. What an adventure, sounds like you got off lightly and made it to your chicken.

    1. I did indeed, Fiona. Ha ha, although that was the next day I was still pretty road weary and had a goal to get to the end of the line and back to that chicken.

    1. I think you and the fam would have gladly taken up residence inside the Hager Heights Drive-In, Brian.

  4. What a fun way to spend your birthday...not getting a ticket that is. Okay the bird is a nice touch too.

  5. Good for the cop for letting you go and that you got to see the Giant White Chicken. bwak, bwak. When I saw the photo at All Seasons, I thought it was going to be about the Giant White Chicken in the town twice over.

    1. Good for him, incredible for me especially after looking at my not so stellar driving record which he mentioned. Well now you've got to tell me more about the GWCTTTO Susie.

    2. The town is Aromas, California. A cool small town that's in 3 counties. Lots of artists live there. As for the GWC, it hangs out at the hardware store. Bwak, bwak.

    3. I'm going to look that up now, Susie. Three counties, that's something. Do people feed it, lucky it hasn't met with "an accident."

    1. I hope you had a good Bank Holiday Darren I hear some heat records were broken in England today, it was around 80 here. This thing had a smaller friend but you couldn't miss him from the highway.

  8. WOW the sculptor of this statue must have been nuts about chickens, and probably had many of them on his/her property? Next birthday get someone to take of pic of you in front of this chicken, so we know how big it actually is:) So, what was the most memorable of your birthday? Many thanks for showing this giant for All Seasons -just bought a stash yesterday for my freezer:) Enjoy the nice spring weather Jeanna!

    1. It's in front of a broasted chicken drive-in on top of a hill facing the most northern part of the WI Great River Rd., J. The little chicken in the background was the size of a toddler if that helps (: I remember being exhausted more than anything and wanting to do more of the same thing when I was better rested. I guess I liked Pepin, a town south of the chicken best and would like to spend more time there. You bought a chicken stash did you, lol.

  9. That is a lot of chicken. Glad you got off with a warning ... that has happened to me the only two times in my life I've been pulled over -- just got a warning (it might have been the abject tears!).

    1. Ha, yeah Sallie, it was a birthday miracle along with getting back on the right side of the river in the rain.
Only two times, dang! I'm lucky to go a year or two without getting pulled over and lately it's never that long.
You went the tears route huh, lol.
