Yes, lol, short for bratwurst. They are a WI staple and there are competing bratwurst festivals here in town. Long story.

ReplyDeleteThat's my dad, but I was going to put up a photo of grandpa who was in WWI but I was talking about Midway so it didn't fit. Maybe in a later post.
DeleteNice tribute to your dad (and your grandfather in the later post)..... my dad enlisted in the Navy in II, but he was over 30 and the father of two. I remember him coming home after -- I was in Kindergarten.
ReplyDeleteI suppose there was a real patriotic fervor back then. My dad always talked about how he couldn't go to his high school graduation, I think that's why he wanted both his girls to go on to college. I'm glad he came home to you and your family. BTW, my ol' man hated the navy but loved the army when he was in the reserves and national guard.
