Stoughton is one of two nearby Norwegian communities and more than a *punchline. It hosts the three-day
Syttende Mai celebration and officially kicks off festival season. Although this year's weather was one of the gloomiest in memory, the staunch Nordic spirit persisted.

ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend ahead to you ~ ^_^
It was cold and cloudy and that pooch was sure enjoying the view from inside the car. Have a great weekend yourself, Carol.
DeleteI grew up in North Dakota and have great memories of the Norwegian festivals. I loved the food and still miss it! Great pics! Thanks for linking up today!
ReplyDeleteThe food lines were way too long but the parade was hoppin'.
DeleteFun times!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't as much fun as usual, but it does signal the start of fair and fest season.
DeleteGreat captures. I love the dogie.
ReplyDeleteHe was having a great time without getting out of the car.
DeleteI hadn't heard that on Syttende Mai everyone is Norwegian. Like on St Patrick's Day everyone is Irish. I've been to Norway a couple of times but we didn't have all this celebration. Norway is a pretty country.
ReplyDelete..
Yeah, it's a pretty big deal in Stoughton, but since I'm already Norwegian, no biggie. I bet it's beautiful, would love to go.
Delete...a great parade, we are hoping to go to one today if it doesn't rain.
ReplyDeleteWell I see you've gotten around as per usual, but no parade?
DeleteGreat photos, love the little dog in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteHe was sooo happy and not even moving, but parked by the best food tent on a windy day.
DeleteThat looks like a fun time! Thanks so much for joining Friday's Hunt. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprisingly cold time.
