Lost Again

I broke my own record for getting lost this weekend. I don't understand why people enjoy getting lost, have they never seen an episode of The X-Files?
"Oh look, glowing lights and blood beasts, you'd never see that on a map."
Speaking of which, $5 bucks for the tour map this year. I downloaded the free version which may explain a lot.
I'm talking about the route map for Fermentation Fest's Farm/Art DTour, my favorite fest held in one of my favorite parts of the state.
Despite dreary weather and torturous mosquitoes befitting of a Klingon Rite of Ascension, I stumbled on infectious music, creative conceptions and a lot of mud.

Yid Vicious plays Yiddish Dance Music on The Last Supper

The artwork in the video is called The Last Supper by Matthew Mazzotta. It's a portable table made to serve regional and endangered resources. There were menus and most notably working taps at every seat. Saturday they were serving a witches brew called Haymaker's Punch~Ginger, Honey, Maple Syrup, Apple Cider Vinegar and Water.

I would stay away from the punch Yid Vs

Ahh yup, Haymaker's Punch makes the sun come out

The day started out all dank and Halloweeny.

I was already lost about what, eight miles from the starting point?

And then it started to rain. Which really sucked because I had to go to the bathroom. But it looked pretty.

Wrong turn number two was fairly scenic

The rain and this sign did not help. The sun came out for a few seconds, hurrah.

The cows were staring.

From The Gallery of Stitches II Farm Form. This cow looks grumpy, but the quilt pattern is radiant

The little guy gave mum a sloppy calf kiss just before I got the shot. Don't you wish your eyes were cameras?

Little pink houses for you and me, Gambrel Farm by Michael Kautzer

Enough for part one already ("Part one? Oh. Mah. Gawd.") it's already Monday so bring on the tunes. Sorry you're singing John Mellencamp now, but remember the title. I know it seems like a long time since you've read it.

Oh, okay.

  1. I love the colorful cow painting and the little pink houses--I always liked that John Mellencamp song. I agree that getting lost is not always fun. It can be downright scary at times! Glad you finally found your way to the exhibit.

    1. The cow is part of a quilt show, I liked that one best. Scarier still is I just found out from the shop that I shouldn't have been driving.

    1. Ha, that's when I started out taking wrong turns. I guess the best shots aren't always planned.

  7. You are so funny! Did you really get lost? I do not enjoy being lost either. I get very upset when I cannot find a place or when I cannot get out a place. Glad you enjoyed the festival!

    1. I did indeed and after looking at the free vs paid map could see why. As well as my abysmal sense of direction. Yeah, me too, Ruth, how is that fun. I was pretty happy that I got to see probably the best stop on the tour yesterday (Tuesday).

  8. I can get lost in a large closet, so I feel your pain. And your joy, because sometimes getting lost is half the fun! As long as you're not towing an RV behind you.

Were they little bathrooms? And if they weren't, did you find a bigger one? (At our age, we couldn't go on any tour if there wasn't a loo available every couple of hours or so :((.

    1. Ha, no. I bet an RV in tow is a whole other dimension of lost, Sallie. They were little gambrel roofed barns, but any port in a storm ya know? There weren't enuf loos for sure and I really should have gone at the head (pun intended) of the route. I found a cornfield.

  11. Very scenic wrong turns! This looks like a lot of fun, except for busting for the loo. that is not much fun :)

  13. Am one too for getting lost:) I really like the artistic rendition of the sheep on the right side! And your shot of the barn and silo is beautiful with the dark clouds:)
