Monday Photos With a Friday Attitude

I was a little surprised to see this PBR banner encouraging bad behavior—well, not really.
Looking at the Pabst beer portfolio I was struck by how many truly awful beers they've produced. I was even thinking, "What, no Olympia?" and voila, there it was. Wasn't it Olympia with all the free merch, massive headaches, and week-long stomach distress? Maybe it was food poisoning, but I'm pretty sure it was Olympia beer.

Is this a bar or what happens when you leave teenagers alone for the weekend?  So what's the bad idea, drinking their product? And what about my favorite ballpark food, the White Trash Special (either a PBR and a PB&J or the preferred fried egg sandwich on white bread with a can of Pabst)?

Thinks fried egg sandwiches are barbaric but raised on PBR and white bread (no wait, that was me)

I think PBR & White Bread would be a great name for a band.

  1. I'll have a fried egg sandwich on white bread. I've had many of them. I'll pass on the beer.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

    1. Yeah, me too, especially a Pabst. Now I want a fried egg sandwich with butter and toasted Italian bread in the pan.

    1. We used to eat Gardner's white bread and steal my best friend's dad's Old Milwaukee every day after school, lol. My Great Aunt Agnes drank Pabst and I used to bring her six packs and watch soaps with her. Kisses to Zoe, especially after seeing that dog today (I left a rambling comment about it).

  5. My dad let me take a sip from his Olympia Beer when I was a kid now and then. I remember tasting pretty good, but then what does a 10 year old girl know. lol

    1. I thought beer was the worst tasting thing I ever had when I was a kid, that must have changed in Jr. High, lol.

    1. What is this brown sauce you speak of, like brown gravy? Beerless, haaaa. I was just thinking of soaking some brats in beer because you know, brat season is upon us.

  8. I remember radio commercials for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer! And I have seen Olympia advertised, as well.
    Very interesting blog post!

    1. I don't remember anything but the headaches for Olympia, but sure, PBR was a staple around here.

  9. Olympia was made in (ta-da) Olympia Washington (the state's capital) before they sold out to PBR. And as soon as they sold, the plant was closed. We toured it about a hundred years ago. The beer of choice in our part of the country (Oregon) now seems to be Bud Light which tastes like I imagine what it looks like tastes like. Yuk. I'm a craft-beer snob. But I love fried egg and PBJ sandwicihes.

    1. I'm sure PBR didn't elevate it, lol. Bud Light, blech, I think more than one Bud whathaveyou made it on many a Worst Beers list. Sure, craft beers or some of the German or Brit beers were my preference when I drank. I'll have a sip of a craft beer now and again and the last few were faaannnn tastic. I'm actually going to see how a year old (probably older) beer holds up to having brats soaked in it.
I agree, but not a PBR PBJ combo.
