Wisconsin Points

I don't know what says summer in Wisconsin more than a neighborhood bar with an autographed Leinie's paddle hanging from the ceiling and a herd of cows on the Tee Vee.  Maybe Aaron Rodgers playing Sheepshead with Vince Lombardi, Chris Farley, Ben Masel and Ed Gein over pitchers of Summer Shandy? I say, "summer" because it got into the 90s pretty quickly considering it was snowing in April.

A Jacob Leinenkugel signed paddle at the Oakcrest Tavern, cheese curds on the bar and cows on the TV
Aunt Em ordered a Summer Shandy at The Chief last night and they didn't have it because they're "a simple bar."

She likes the way sunglasses make her hair look
Today I found the lemony Leinie's for $5 bucks a pint five miles away and $2 dollars for an eight-ounce beer in West Allis.
Aunt Sara, up to no good with her gin and tonic
I get WI points taken away because I'm writing this while watching the Avengers ("Mrs. Peel, Mrs. Peel are you all right?") but given back because I'm eating brats.

  1. Nice photos with a beautifully "local" feel. Your Aunt Em looks a fine lady.

    1. She is, DS. One of my Irish aunties in a local eastside bar. We did have a time of it.

  2. I love the way her shade make her hair look too.

I loved that show. Watched it all the time back in the day.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

    1. Both my aunts were in fine form last night, Sandee. I adored that show growing up too, but only the ones with Diana Rigg. Today she changed from low heels to white go-go boots because she needed "walking shoes."

    3. Ella, I DID go to Dogtoberfest as Cruella di Vil with my dog pal, Roscoe once. Although I wasn't thinking and dressed him up like a skunk instead of a Dalmatian. But how do you dress a black lab as a Dalmatian?

  6. Wow, can't believe Spring is done. That was fast. How hot does it get to in Wisconsin? I thought you all were cooler up there.

    1. I'm thinking we had maybe three days of spring, Mary or so it seems. It's 90˚ today and I've heard both 93 and 95 tomorrow. It's a state of extremes but I think we're breaking all kinds of records this year.

  7. Your Aunts are a kick! (I totally agree with the fashionable hair accessory -- I frequently wear that same accent piece myself). Crazy heat so early in the season.

    1. They are, even after a memorial for our third aunt who we lost last fall. I suppose you must be out in the sun a bunch. The heat is too much for me, especially when feasting on brats as I have been.

    1. Ha, my idea of a shandy is soda and lemonade but they are both much more hardy than me.
