You're Not Getting Older You're Just Getting Fatter

Is that how the saying goes? Less than an hour until my birthday and I've successfully driven myself crazy with maps and weather forecasts and hotel sites and descriptions of towns along the way (whatever that way may be) so job well done.

Cheers—tipping a few with the ol' man

I usually point myself toward the Mississippi.

My cousin Rita and my sister Kathy on her birthday

I've thrown some stuff in a bag but if it's too stormy I'm booking myself into a day spa.

Same age cousins (Nanci will object to that) celebrating something in 1971. Ahhh, 1971. I'm the one with the neck ruffle

So I might take a few days off to recover from whatever I decide to do or not do.

With my incomparable Aunt Flossie around May of '75

  1. Happy Birthday, baby!
Because you did not put on the blog a picture with you from now, I think that you are the same person as in the first photo ... at least at heart! Right? :)
Wishing you every happiness this special day brings. Have a wonderful birthday!

    1. Why thank you, Ella, It was so nice to get serenaded by you on my birthday. My Aunt Ginny called me last year and sang to me while I was looking at the Mississippi River but she's gone now so thank you.
I'm mostly that same person, lol, still drinking grape soda in funny hats.

    1. Curly, lol, that's after ironing it and putting my hair in rollers and then a curling iron to straighten it out more. It's frizzing up and going nuts in this warm weather, JSG. It was an interesting, nostalgic, lucky and kind of adventurous few days, J.

  8. Happy Belated BD!! I'm always a bit late in catching up -- and I'll read about what you did in a moment , but I like the idea of being prepared for anything -- flexibility is good, take it from someone old enough to beat least your aunt probably.

    1. And a belated thank you, Sallie. I'm way behind on comments and everything else. You should see my living room, I've got several deep cleaning projects going on at once and it looks as if I just moved in (except for the tremendous amount of crap already here).
I didn't know if I'd have the energy, still being depressed about losing that mangy ol' beast and all, plus the weather is nuts, half expected a tornado along the way.
My two remaining aunts (which saddens me to write) are pretty lively and seem to get around much more than me so sure, why not.
