Nowhere Radio

I was Looking for voices on a cloudy day amidst this outdoor artwork by David Sanchez Burr. Locals record their stories on the white platform which broadcasts (along with sound art ) over solar receivers attached to weather balloons. Listen closely, do you hear "decay as necessary for sociopolitical change" or weird music?

Sniff, sniff, I smell hippies

  2. Hello, I have never seen a weather balloon before. They are not what I expected. Neat photo. Happy Monday, enjoy your day. Have a great new week ahead.

    1. It's not what I think of when I hear, "weather balloon" either, Eileen. It was a little weird, but I generally enjoy weird things.

    1. I'm glad you've got lawn to mow, Brian. Does that sound scare you or familiar enough by now? I think they might be done with that around here until spring.

  4. I was a hippie back in the day. Not for long, but I wanted to know about the movement and communes. Weird time. Then I came to my sense and got a job.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  7. I hear the music that the hippos (elephants?) dancing among daisies in a 1930s/40s cartoon heard. A happy, jazzy classical tune. "I was Looking for voices on a cloudy day" would be a great start to a song.

  8. Am getting a kick out of the comments you received! I wasn't a hippie, but I thoroughly enjoyed the craziness of those days:):) I never "got" the concern the parents had in those days (I was a teen then, lol)
Anyways, I like the way you express yourself in your posts and thank you for being a part of All Seasons! Happy Thanksgiving, Jeanna!

  9. We live in Eugene (Oregon, where it’s all legal) so yeah, no problem with the sniff. I’d like to see (and hear)that installation . I *think* I got my comment problem solved...if you have time please try again. Appreciate your letting me know.

    1. Sallie, still the same warning message, just tried it. Eugene is the perfect place for it to be legal, but then again so is Madison. I got the weird "music" when I listened.
