Obie and Rexie enjoying the first 70˚ day since October (remember how nice it was until The Vortex dropped) |
I shake my ears out the same way in the pool |
Enjoy it boys, it's going to snow on Wednesday |
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Small Onion
1 Clove Garlic
2 tsp Chili Powder
1 8 oz Can Tomato Sauce
1 15 oz Can Red Kidney Beans (Pinto Beans work too)
8 Uncured Turkey or Chicken Hot Dogs (or a veggie dog perhaps?)
Whole Wheat Hot Dog Buns
1/2 Cup Shredded Low Fat Cheddar
Directions:
Warm oil in a medium skillet over medium heat, add onion and cook stirring until softened, about three minutes.
Stir in garlic and chili powder and sauté for 30 seconds.
Stir in tomato sauce and beans and bring to a simmer.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.
Season with a pinch of salt (or not, check the Sodium content on the dogs and buns).
Make your favorite healthier dogs with lower fat hot dog buns (some listed on the previous link) and top with chili and low-fat cheese.
This Daily Meal link talks about some healthier (and unhealthy) store-bought hot dogs.

DeleteI don't have a dog and I don't know a culinary recipe about "the dog" ...
ReplyDeleteCan I publish another recipe to participate in your "party" or do I have to follow your theme exactly?
You certainly don't need to have a dog or dog pphotos, Ella. I'm trying to post healthier recipes with cheese because I'm on a diet but it's really up to you.
DeleteI'am in! :))
DeleteThanks!
Nice photo! :-)
ReplyDeleteThey were pretty entertaining.
DeleteThey are loving it heheh!
ReplyDeleteThat recipe sounds delish I might even try it and that says something cos I hate cooking :-)
Have a cheesytastic week ;-)
Oh yeah, and the smaller one was following me around, so sweet. Yeah, I've grown to hate cooking too, love watching other people cook though.
DeleteSuch sweet pups having some fun! Hooray for chili dogs too!
ReplyDeleteHooray for chili dogs and cool cats, Brian.
DeleteYour dogs are cuties!
ReplyDeleteThey were just some random dogs and there were quite a few of them because everyone up here is starved for warm weather and sunshine.
DeleteThose pups are having a great time. Cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the recipe. Now I'm hungry.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
They sure were. I'm getting frustrated trying to find "healthy" food at my usual grocery store. That recipe is forcing me to go to a health food store, ka ching.
Deletelooks like they had a wonderful time. I am so happy good weather has arrrived. have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone had a wonderful time on Monday since we were warned about what was coming today! Ha, arrived and left in a big ol' hurry.
DeleteThe water dogs look good and the chili dogs sound good! Thanks for the link to the healthier version website; I’m always looking for those.
ReplyDeleteThey were so sweet, especially the one that followed me around. Oh man, I am almost completely lost for something healthy and easy to make every day. I seem to be losing most of my weight in my shoulders, so nothing to brag about quite yet. I did just have some Brussel Sprouts as part of my "dessert" so it's happening, babi,
DeleteOh, those chili cheese dogs sound good! I might try them with some veggie dogs.
ReplyDeleteStill haven't tracked down the Boar's Head Lite Beef Frankfurters that are supposed to be so good.
DeleteI am huge fan of chili cheese dogs and the way you make them sound great. Great pics. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI used to be in awe of them as a kid because they were a big ticket item down at the A&W. Right back atcha, Pat.
Deletenice action shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Klara, it's no infinity pool over looking a waterfall, but a nice day.
DeleteThanks for the invite :) Your recipe sounds tasty. Aww sweet dogs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Claire, hope to see you again. Lots of sweet dogs at the DL Dog Beach.
DeleteI always wish I could shake off like a dog does, after I have had my shower!
ReplyDeleteI give it my all, lol. Sure would be handy, maybe if I had more fur.
DeleteLovely photos - always enjoy having dogs near water. #TwinklyTuesday
ReplyDeleteHey Kate, no working link on your profile, you should give people a better chance at reading your posts, they're very good. This combines my two favorite things, dogs and water.
DeleteIt looks like all are having so much fun :) Thank you so very much for making My Corner of the World a success!
ReplyDeleteIt's the place to be from a dog's eye view and less snakes or at least from what I've seen. No rattlers there anyway (again, from what I've seen).
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we'll have more like last week and today to romp in the water with dogs.
DeleteGorgeous snaps of the dogs, they look happy! Thanks for linking up #twinklytuesday
ReplyDeleteIndeed they were, Kate.
