Timing

There are many things I'm thankful for and one of them is timing.

I was watching this window washer and some pigeons yesterday

I think these birds were waiting for the perfect time to drop a present

My mother fell at the very start of this madness and had a week long hospital stay. But she got in and out of the hospital unscathed.
She had a follow-up when we were only washing our hands a few dozen times a day rather than—excuse me I can't remember if I washed my hands before I started typing—ok, that's better—rather than—shit, what did I touch on my way back from the sink—all right better safe than—damn, did I use a paper towel to turn off the water—ok—wait, when's the last time I sanitized my laptop?
So I'm thankful for that.
Linking up with Brian and Michelle for Thankful Thursday and Dragonstar for The Weekend in Black and White. And let's not forget Jesh's All Seasons or Nix My Sunday Best.

  1. That's a wonderful thankful. I wouldn't want to go into a hospital right now. Excuse me I have to go wash my hands now.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. ♥

    1. Hells, no, you go in and there's a very good chance you're not coming out.

  2. I'm glad she got treated before it got to nutty, we've canceled routine dental and medical appointments here. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

    1. Yeah, there were a lot of things like that which happened just before it really hit the fan, Brian. Oh yeah, and the scheduler sounded embarrassed when she asked me why. I've been lucky enough to be a stop ahead of many things like this.

  3. Hello, I am glad your Mother was out of the hospital before this mess started. It is scary, now I would want to go near a hospital, thanks God for the healthcare workers. Take care! Wishing you a happy day!

    1. Oh yeah, it actually had started but I remember a weird encounter with one of the Drs when I shook his hand. He hesitated and I didn't realize why until after the fact. I literally don't like to drive by hospitals, Eileen.

  4. We had a seagull fly by and send us an airmail delivery to our third floor window and screen. At least he hit the upper part that is easier to reach when we open the window. It is a terrible time to be in a hospital or doctor's office for reasons other than COVID-19. Glad you Mom came through both her procedure and her stay fine. I bet it was very stressful for you. My mom passed in 2013 and I cared for her here in the condo, in fact we are in the one that used to be hers. She had to have both home nursing and caregivers to make it work and I would have been so worried they would bring something in with them. -- Margy

    1. That must have been very difficult, Margy. My mother has other issues that have gotten her booted out of assisted living and I'm glad she's in an apartment right now. I don't think I could live with her for both of our sakes. I'm very worried about caretakers although one of them quit and another one, well best not said.
We lost my father in in 2013 and it still seems like yesterday.
She did get through it although one day when I was there another patient grabbed her soda and drank out of it with no one giving it a notice and that was after things were starting to heat up.
Damn birds, didn't they give us bird flu too?

    1. Thanks, Elkes and your illustrations are vivid and fierce. I could barely look up at nests in a rookery today let alone be a window washer. Unless I was washing windows on the first floor that is. Stay safe and happy and healthy and as sane as circumstances permit.

  9. Good to hear your Mother is healing and out of the hospital. The pigeons do not seem bothered by the window washers.

  10. Glad to hear your Mom is out of the hospital. Not a place to be right now. I cut my thumb and my daughter's friend, (a nursing students), offered to stitch it for me so I wouldn't have to go to the hospital. I declined! lol Thanks for linking up and stay well!

    1. It certainly is not, Michelle. Oh man, that's one of my biggest fears and with all this cooking we all seem to be doing now it's a real possibility. What did you do? A butterfly bandaid, did you get stitches?

    1. "Just don't drive yourself crazy! Life has to go on Stay healthy czoczo by the way ... Well seen. at least the windows will be really free for COVID-19 ;-)"
Hi Czoco, I have no idea how to pronounce that. It's too late to not drive myself crazy, about 50 years too late (yes, I probably went nuts in my tweens). I was just thinking how being a paranoid misanthrope finally came in handy. I'm trying my best to stay healthy but it's a challenge since I'm an emotional eater.
The window washer was the only thing to watch, really, I took a picture of how stark the usually busy street was on a weekday morning. Yes I suppose both the window and the window washers were safe for the moment (except from pigeon poop).

  14. Hello, timing is everything, I have been hit by a Tern one time. I think the bird messed with me on purpose. LOL! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, stay safe! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend. PS, thank you for the commend and visit.

    1. Ha, I suppose at the time it wasn't funny. I've gotten dive bombed by I don't know what walking in the state park and on a bike path on the lake a lot, like a real lot. I started wearing hats and carrying squirt guns. I'm sure it was on purpose, I picture them balling up their wings like a fist and shaking it at us.

  16. I hope your mother continues to improve. Not a good time to be in a hospital. My brother's hospital kicked him with three hours notice last Monday, which was fine, he is back in his long term care facility and is locked down tight.

  20. My goodness, Jeanna - social distancing and you have 35 comments?? I must really be living in the middle of nowhere, lol! Window washers who have to go up to that height are my heroes! Just going up there, has my admiration. Did not realize your mom was in the hospital. Was that around the time that you started doing some more things for yourself, despite that nasty virus? Keep it up, you only have one life to live. Let's do it with every fiber of our being!! Many thanks for sharing with All Seasons, and wishing you a very good week, and even more inspiration, Jesh

    1. People are not doing great at the social distancing thing here from what I've seen, but it's a nice thing to see in cyber space. Although it's really only about half of the comments since I'm trying my hardest to answer them. I couldn't go up in one of those contraptions, been too many mishaps on TV and cartoons to think it wouldn't happen in real life.
I'm trying not to lose it and having all of my normal exercise activities cancelled is driving me to look for replacements. I seem to have less time for myself than ever, how about you?

  22. That's horrible your Mom fell. My Dad was wood carving this afternoon, slipped and had to get 5 stitches. Nothing compared to being in for a week though.

That timing is perfect for that photo!
