Brats and Beer

We all know that Memorial Day is to honor those who have served our country, and in Wisconsin we honor them by consuming as many beers and brats as possible. For our pals across the pond "brat" stands for bratwurst and is best eaten when soaked in beer. Brats (brahts) are coincidentally consumed by people who are also soaked in beer. That's cold microbrewery beer,  so delicious that even our dogs long for a cup on a mild and partly sunny day.

I told you to bring your ID

It looks like his mom had a problem with his behavior and he's for sale. He's selling bratwurst—the best in the area—and was dressed up like one earlier (the top of his costume is to the right below the towel)

Okay I'll just share your beer, and will have a Smoked Brisket, one Smoked Pork and a Grilled Cheese

  4. Hi Jeanna, love the simplicity of the celebrations and the fact the dog seems to want beer more than a brat, or is it looking to wash down the brat with the beer? In the UK the word brat can be used to describe a troublesome child, no wondre the lad isn't looking too pleased with the title!

    1. We are a simple folk, lol. There is a veyr large Brat Fest in town I don't care for and it is anything but simple.("The World's Largest Brat Fest") I went there the day it opened and got rained on, blech. Yeah, they tried to keep him out of the bar and he finally made his way in. I'm sure he got plenty to eat. If you want a larf, click on the link in his caption to see him in his bratwurst costume.

    1. Two different events, I think the first one peaked pretty early, but I had a very pleasant time at the second one.

    1. I didn't get a homemade apple brat from Ruef's, but I'll probably go back and get a pack. The best around according to my taste buds. I did get a smoked pork sandwich in Paoli and it was sooo good. It even came with some homestyle slaw which I piled on top.

  8. That smoked brisket I would like to try! Really got turned on to bratwurst when living in Berlin. And glad they didn't pressure me in refusing the beer - never liked, although I do love wine:) Thank you for your comment - I LOVE my work, so it's hard to say no- chuckle:) But you are right - I do feel the pressure to fill that canvas - don't worry, I am too persistent, so I'll wurm (worm?) my way through it, till I enjoy it:): Thanks for sharing the way you celebrate Memorial Day with All Seasons, and have a happy week:)

    1. I almost got the brisket, but got the smoked pork instead and it was excellent. We have some pretty good bratwursts around, I'm guessing they serve the red brats in Berlin. I enjoy all kinds and now you've made me hungry for more. WI has a large German population and brats are a staple—may explain our weight problem, lol.
I used to feel the same way about filling up a sheet of paper. Have a great week, JSG.
