Children of the Sun

I'm burnt out from all the sunshine and fun this week. Right now I'm feasting on Ruef's apple brats and taking a short break. Getting lost until I came across this UFO yesterday was the last bit of merriment I could handle.
So here's a song about the sun and aliens that my cousin and I—who never agreed on music—both liked back in 1979. I was ecstatic when it popped up in the second season of Fargo.
Mmmm, the whole place smells like sizzling apple bratwurst.

UFOs make great points of reference

Love is a Superman ice cream cone across from the pool on a sunny day

This 92-year-old kid claims she no longer eats sweets

  1. She looks fantastic for 93! She should have sweets everyday.

  2. Doh, my mother always dates herself a year older than she is and started adding a year this month, her birthday month. So, yes, she's very good for 92. And I'm pretty sure she does eat sweets every day although she'd deny it. She went to TOWN on that turtle sundae, and don't mess with her Heath Bars.

    1. Me too, I should have kept this pictures in the photo bin cuz I won't be happy until I get one of these sundaes for myself!

  4. You're so humorous about the 92 year old! Do you know that "sweet" is the taste that is longest lasting in a life time?
The toddler is hilarious - eating his ice cream with closed eyes on his tip toes! You certainly have a journalistic streak in you:) Many thanks for sharing the ice creams with All Seasons - I'm getting mine tonight (spumoni!)

    1. I didn't know that about sweets, but having taken care of elderly loved ones, I'm sure glad it is. My dad loved his sweets to the very end. I should find a picture of him with a Halloween basket full of candy just weeks before he passed. I have a degree in Journalism but didn't do much with it. Wrote a lot of freelance feature articles for chicken feed. That kid was eating Superman ice cream, cherry, blue moon and vanilla. I almost got it too, lol.

  5. ...let me tell you, a 92-year-old kid should be able to do whatever she wants to do! Enjoy summer, it won't last all that long!

    1. Having spent 60 years around her I can safely say she does whatever she wants. I don't cherish more oppressive heat and humidity but will miss some of the gorgeous days we've had. For me though, August is all about corn and I can't get enough.

    1. My mother wanted a sundae and since I finally knew where we were when I saw the UFO I also knew we had three choices for nearby ice cream.

  7. If the spaceship brought that ice cream then it would be welcome in my backyard! I'm not quite 92 yet, but I've already learned the secret to healthy eating: In the summer, ice cream is not a sweet -- it is one of the necessary food groups. Go for it!

    1. Ha, the spaceship brought me a much needed sign as to where I was which happened to be ice cream adjacent. We have some of the best ice cream in the country made on campus at Babcock Dairy. Oh man, now I want one of these Brownie Boats. https://babcockhalldairystore.wisc.edu/shop/brownie-boat/
Good thing there are so many stairs to discourage me.

    2. I like the way you get lost (and found again).

  8. Great variety of shots! My MIL always tells people, 'I'm almost 80, you know!' I bet she'll still be doing it at 92 :)

  9. Tell your 92-year-old friend I don't eat sweets either. Actually, though, to be honest, I've noticed my tastes changing as I get older and I more often find myself craving something salty and crunchy rather than sweet.
I hope you have a great day. Thanks for sharing:

    1. My mother (the 92-year-old) has been a sweets addict her whole life and although she may (which I doubt) eat less of them she has plenty of sweet treats around.

  10. Ha! Same as my father in law! They want everyone to know the experience they've had! Awesome pics.

  14. What is it about ice cream that makes us so happy. Love the contrast of the child eating his superman ice cream and then the 92 year old.

    1. It's funny because my mother tells people she's lactose intolerant. I should show this to her Dr. Yes, that kid was in heave. I actually missed the better pic of the whole family walking away with their goodies. I must say the Superman ice cream couldn't have been any other kind.

  15. Let the grandmother know if she doesn't eat Ice Cream my son and I would eat it for her. And my son says he would like the UFO as it is so cool looking. Have a Great day.

  16. She is a great grandmother as of late Saturday night! (: Ha, love it, he would really like the Halloween parade it's in celebrating the landing of a UFO in Belleville, WI then.

  18. Hi Jeanna, fun and sunshine? What a way to burn out! I wouldn't say no to a nice cool ice cream at the moment, I can tell you. And I would say that 92 year old lady is eating one of her five a day? There is definitely a hint of stalk of something! And ice cream must have calcium, which is something ladies of any age should get plenty of.

The video would play for me.

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

    xx
