Looking For Corn In All The Wrong Places

I went on an *epic journey to find end of season sweet corn and although disappointing on the cob, it was okay stripped down and should be mighty tasty come winter.
Skelly's Market outside of Janesville was just starting to get their maze and pumpkin patch ready for some good clean outdoor weekend family fun, but they had crisp sour apples bagged and ready for sampling. My favorite though was all the autumn tchotches they had on display.
Funny how such a colorful season looks so rich in black and white.

I'd like to decorate my whole place like this till Christmas

There's some guy's arm in my corn

  1. You know I like Fall the best of any of the seasons.

Thank you for your kind words.

    1. I love it too, Yogi, kind of ties with spring for me but seems to last longer. I talk about my dad all the time, I think he'd like that.

    1. Eek, don't say that, it's still summer. I'm getting used to all the Halloween decorations early and a friend explained that amateur haunters are looking for things in the summer, but Christmas, no.

    1. Makes me want to start my Halloween decorations early, but then I'd be admitting it's almost autumn.

  5. Don't go into any corn mazes Jeanna -- I'm afraid you'd never come out (I got lost in a hedge maze once, so I would never go into a corn one alone, unless i had my GPS)....

I am always surprised at how good black and white pictures can be! This one is great. You are way ahead of us -- our corn is still at peak season..... but of course Halloween decorations are up in the stores. ... even though we're having another hot summer week, in the 90s and smoky -- I am feeling sorry for the kids (and teachers) having to start school Tuesday.

  6. I'd only go in with a golf cart and GPS and even then I'd need snacks. And it looked like several football fields worth of corn too so I do NOT think so. It seems like a good opportunity for haggard parents to be free of their kids for awhile though. A few of my cousins and a friend got lost in one in Wausau when I'd decided to stay home with the dogs. I couldn't stop laughing when they got back late and mad. A hedge maze, is that like a hedge witch and couldn't you see over it?? Hahahaa. I saw a corn stand today but am after the gold standard of corn if there's any left. In the 90s, holy shite, froze my duppa off today swimming outside.

  7. Hi Jeanna, you've gone all autumnal over there already! I like the display and it does look good in black and white. I'm surprised the chap didn't end up with teeth marks in his arm, which probably says more about me than you ever need to know! I'm guessing corn is a really big thing where you are!

    xx

    1. There have been signs creeping up on us, I noticed a tree turning in the background of a photo and seems like fall got the jump on us. You still have to look for it though, but it will come soon enough. The stores, however, always have to jump ahead.

  8. Loving the B&W shot. Lots of character. Nothing like fresh corn on the cob in my opinion! #MySundayPhoto

    1. I'm glad I used the kernel stripper on these because it tasted much better stripped off. Will miss it soon I'm sure. I agree, but it should be fresh and good and this wasn't really.
