Snow Peaks Dragonfly
I thought these hydrangeas looked like mountain peaks iced with snow. That flying critter is either tiny or far away but probably too small to be a dragonfly (although it made a fun title).

Say Cheese! Corn
Cheese Corn, mmmmm. I've got all sorts of stuff going on due to an increased walking and exercise program.
The good news is that I'm still on my two pound a week weight loss track despite the criminal amounts of sweet corn I've eaten this summer, so that small drop in a very fat bucket is getting bigger.
The bad news, I'll be spending a substantial amount of time in a Frankenstein walking boot with possible surgery as a result of all this healthy activity.
And until I'm confident I can carry around a camera with a ridiculously expensive lens without falling over I'm passing off these week old photos from the Corn Festival as new. Shouldn't have said that.
Must. Eat. Corn.

Being Cool At The Union...
...is a song on an lp by the same name from 1980, a decade in which I spent a nonsensical amount of time trying to do just that. It features at least two well known locals (we lost Clyde Stubblefield in 2017).
I found very little about it online but I'm guessing one of the DJs at our coolest radio station has a copy.
The Little Rat Boy Being Cool At The Union this week got me thinking about the song |

Say Cheese! Last Gasps of Summer
I'm more of an autumn or spring person but it is sad to see summer's last hurrah.

Matz Farmstead Ruins
This property is a nice bit of local history. Homesteaded by a German immigrant named Matz in 1852, this farmhouse was built with stone locally sourced after the owner, Friedrich Matz, returned from the Civil War.
Here's a photo of the farmhouse from 1907.
Matz spent time at Camp Randall—go Badgers—before going off to war as a private in the 11th infantry.
Here's a photo of the farmhouse from 1907.
The house burned down in 1949 and I haven't seen much more information about the ruins than what's on the Historical Marker Database.
It's part of the Dane County Halfway Prairie Wildlife Area and although often photographed, I thought this building would look good in black and white.
There are more remains out of shot to the left shown in this post from last fall.

Marilyn
This was a throw away snapshot of my mother in front of a diner in the Dells taken with my pocket camera (I could buy 13-and-a-half of them with what I paid for my new lens). It got some good feedback on a Facebook group called Wandering Through Wisconsin, so here you go, happy Thursday.
