Countdown To St. Paddy's

We Dempsey Olsons love St. Paddy's  and do the whole parade thing every year. That's the Dempsey Clan in the new banner.

Aunt Ginny with my beloved Terminator Boy, Andy

We lost Aunt Ginny a few years ago. She dyed her hair orange and wore flowers and Kelly green until she left us at age 96. One of the last things she was talking about was Irish dancing.

We lost Andy two years before that. This is my favorite picture of them and one of my favorite photos period. The contrast in body types always cracked me up.
I'll continue to celebrate the days leading up to the parade, but my life is so much emptier without them.
This got a little sad, but these were two of the funniest (Andy by intention) people I knew.

  2. It is wonderful to have people that you have good memories with or that fill your mind with joy when you think of them. I was not around any aunts or uncles enough to feel close to them. But do/did have my husband's aunts and uncles...and his grammy.

    1. Oh yeah, we lost Andy way WAY too soon and not a day goes by when I'm not thinking of him as well as Aunt Ginny who I also don't believe is gone, even at that age. I actually have a quilt made from Andy's t-shirts next to me now. That's too bad you didn't grow up with aunts and uncles but it's nice you have your hubby's plus who doesn't need a grammy (:

  3. They will keep your St. Paddy's Day spirit alive. It's hard to believe that March is almost here though.

    1. They will, Brian, especially Aunt Ginny's who was the heart of the Irish side of the family. I can't believe it either but welcome it whole heartedly.

    1. Thanks, Michelle, they were both unique and very special. Ah yes, I just ordered a t-shirt that says,
"Everyone Is A Little Irish On St. Patrick's Day
      Except The Itialians
      We're Still Italians"
      But I'm Irish as well.
      You too!

    1. Hi Eileen, the birds are chirping and sound as anxious for spring as we are. It's a sunny day that's supposed to be in the mid-40s, so it's going to be a lovely day, hope your Sunday is just as good or better.
