Big Rope Little Dog
It's been a tough week so I'll leave you with a few more phone pics. This rope smells like you and you belong to me therefore ...
-
I thought when Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in the first quarter of that Viking game in mid-October it was some kind of karmic paymen...
-
This is hard for me to write not only because I'm broken up about Dexter's owner taking him back soon, but because being a dog perso...
Diners can be awesome indeed.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week, my friend. ♥
Hope yours is good, too, Sandee.
DeleteVery cool, those older style diners are magical and usually yummy too!
ReplyDeleteYes they are, Brian. There's always something delicious on the menu.
DeleteWith diners you find winners and losers...but even then we are always willing to try them. We have one that has the best breakfast....
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to think of a diner I didn't like. I suppose if it's not clean, but even at that the last one that needed to get crackin' on clean up had the most delicious Reuben. I'm sure there are some with lousy food I put out of my mind and never went back to.
DeleteBut does it do nice cheese that's the main point LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a dinertastic week :-)
There were some pretty cheesy humans in there, Steve. I can't say the physical space is cheesy although someone else might. To me it's like a warm pair of chubby arms.
DeleteOoh strawberry shake, two straws please. Or large coke with peanuts, I’m feeling wild. Elvis on the juke box (skinny young Elvis, we didn’t know there was gonna be any other). Fries and catchup. Lots of cAtchup. Lost in the 50s again. And lovin’ it.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, one of the trainers in a fitness group I'm in was going to a famous local diner and didn't know what to order, which I thought at first was funny, but then I looked at her then at me and thought, "Yup." I told her either a blueberry or strawberry malted was a must and she asked, "How do I order that?" Millennials, am I right?
Delete"A large Coke with peanuts?" Do you mean a Coke with a side of peanuts, cuz yeah, I can see that.
Ha, well, I suppose we didn't know about Elvis, but I was more about Paul McCartney, Peter Noone, Mark Lindsay, Donny Osmond, Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy and The Monkees. We didn't know Elvis would be synonymous with Vegas, either.
If you're having catchup or even ketchup and fries, you must have a cherry phosphate soda, I insist.
When we were in junior high school , the rumor was that you could get drunk by putting peanuts in your fountain coke. What can I say? We were very stupid and very innocent. Your diner interior reminded me of our small backwater town hangout! ... in our later years, we have found several good retro diners in our travels and really enjoy them . But nowadays, if we did want to get intoxicated, we’d know a better way. (But even those days are past now, I’m afraid!....we’re old and careful.)
DeleteOh man, that is hilarious, Sallie. I remember stupid boys trying to blow up pigeons with Alka Seltzer and the Mentos and Coke thing and how we thought we'd get drunk from eating enough alcohol flavored hard candy from the drug store down the street. I think that was pretty stupid too. I'm wondering what a science teacher would have said about that? Where was your backwater hangout? I bet you guys found some great ones, I always wanted to travel the country going from diner to diner and take photos and write about them, but pretty sure that's been done over and again. And now of course I have to watch what I eat—no fun. Yeah, me too, I don't even like to use wine in cooking even though it's supposed to burn off. We probably had enough of that to last a lifetime, well I did at least.
DeleteNot much cheese in my post, you need citrus to go with it. We know that now ... (da*nit).
ReplyDeleteIt
I am eating more fruit than cheese these days although I did just discover the joy of broccoli and baby Swiss.
DeleteI loved old diners, they made the best hambuger steak on toast with potatoes and gravy!!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting you mentioned that because I don't think they have hamburger steak and only serve mashed potatoes and gravy a few days a week. That can't be right, will check the next time I go. They do, however, have six kinds of burgers and three kinds of hash (including, "Campers Hash" since they're close to Devil's Lake).
DeleteWas the diner once a dining car for a train? Sure looks it with that rounded ceiling. Wish we had a diner in town.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe it was, but the outside is quite fetching, I should check into that. It's a reverse Tardis where it looks smaller on the inside. We have at least five quality diners in town and that's just off the top of my head (for some reason I'm hearing Don Rickles say, "I'm surprised it could get through all that dandruff.").
Deletehahahahahaha
DeleteMeatloaf with a side of mashed potatoes, drowned in gravy. Or maybe a Reuben. Mmmm, I'm getting hungry!
ReplyDeleteLove your diner photo.
I looked for that on their menu, Sandra, but didn't see it. I think this diner is a little different and really seems to like hash and burgers a lot, but no meatloaf and mashed potatoes, a diner standard.
DeleteLove those old-style diners.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, Jeanna!
Hope you had a pleasant and healthy week, Veronica.
DeleteI agree! Since I lived most of my life in New York City I love diners! We had so many good ones in my area and their menus were extensive and everything they served was so good!
ReplyDeleteThat's very cool, Pat, I've only been there once and a lot of it was about eating, lol. I bet you had some incredible food!
DeleteLooks charming!
ReplyDeleteIt was fairly charming on the inside with a side of almost healthy, which was weird but appreciated.
DeleteOld diners are so cool!
ReplyDeleteThey say it was built in 1954, even older than me, Tamar!
DeleteIt's always the best place to get a good hamburger and REAL fries! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteI don't really do fries these days, sadly, LD. But I will indulge in a burger from time to time which of course I shouldn't if I want to lose weight. Now all I want is fries and a burger.
DeleteDiners are awesome! It's wonderful when they mix nostalgia with good food. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThey are awesome and rarely if ever disappoint. Right back at you, Tina.
DeletePoor me - we don't have diners in a 1 1/2 hours radiance. You are spoiled:) sorry, only part of my pics for this post came up, but I meant eating the ice cream:) Love this header!
ReplyDeleteThat is too bad, J. maybe you will where life takes you next. Thank you, we're starting to think about the family march in the St. Paddy's Parade, it will be here before you know it.
DeleteNice choice in B&W.
ReplyDeleteI was curious and so often black and white brings a clarity to photos, at least to mine
DeleteI have to say I share your idea of a good place to eat! Love the image.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are a part of 'My Corner of the World' this week!

DeleteIt looks like American movie. In a good way, a classic diner. Me like a lot!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, remember the movie Diner? Wasn't there a guy in there reciting an entire Hitchcock movie, I want to say North By Northwest? I just found out there's a place close by with the most scrumptious looking lemon blueberry scones.
DeleteClean place, good fresh food, peaceful ambience, good company or company of self ....... that's the best diner :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
You've got it, Monkia. And I think the bougainvillea grows as a shrub, not a tree. I really need to brush up on flowers and birds.
DeleteThe last time I ate in a diner was near Newburgh, New York, and it was fantastic. Still are some good ones in the United States.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes they're in the last place you'd look. We have some good ones around here and I still go even though they're not famous for serving the healthiest food. This one isn't too bad though.
DeleteDiners are the best...food and atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool diner. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteSo nice.
ReplyDeleteI know there are some of these old diners out there even with the juke boxes, which is totally cool. I like them & there should be more with the old prices too! WOO HOO! Have a great day & thanks for sharing your pics!
ReplyDeleteDiners have the best comfort food....just what we all crave. Thanks for linking up and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBrings happy memories of my visits to the USA.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" Meme.
Looks like old-style diners can be interesting places!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us last week. Happy week ahead.
Cheers
