My Godmother was moved to hospice during the pandemic and I couldn't see her. I was afraid to see her soon after they relaxed restrictions.
We had an outdoor family visit with her and the Little Rat Boy came. Three people can visit her inside the facility each day and I'm less afraid to go now.
Once again this little guy shined his light on someone who has given me so much.
I'm so glad you got to go visit finally.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Brian, you never know when it's going to be the last time.
Deletelovely B&W portraits, so tender.
ReplyDeleteThank you Klara, two people I love dearly. Listen to me calling Oliver "people."
DeleteLovely photos! It's been a very scary time for people with vulnerable relatives.
ReplyDeleteThank you, DS. It certainly is, I've had plenty of scares with my mother who hasn't been out since late February or early March, I don't even remember any more. My poor cousin has had a tough time of it and continues to have.
Deletei like this family picture full of love. And your "godmother" has a beautiful smile
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kwarkito, she does have a beautiful smile. I was told by her daughter she hadn't been smiling much in the months prior to the visit.
DeleteI am glad that you were eventually able to see her, thanks for sharing this tender moment with us.
ReplyDeleteI got a one on one visit with her after that, but it's been a challenge to see her this week. Thank you for your lovely comment, Jane.
DeleteThese are all beautiful photographs dear Jeanna! I am praying for your Godmother and I hope she is well and be more healthy so that you can reunite when the pandemic has been solved! Happy Weekend Jeanna!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stevenson. I plan to see her as often as I can. I couldn't on my "day off" this week because only three people a day can visit and the family has realized she doesn't have much longer. I don't think the pandemic will ever end, but I pray the second and third waves will be less deadly than predicted. Have a happy and safe weekend, sweetie.
DeleteHello dearest Jeanna! I am so happy to be back here in your blog, I was not able to bloghop to you my dear friends for the past weekend, a lot has happened, good things this time with a reunion to celebrate my niece's 3rd birthday and we had fun but its just the close family to still keep the safety. I pray for your godmother and I am sure she lived an amazing life because she is surrounded by the people that loves her :)
DeleteOh and dear Jeanna, thank you very much for sharing this beautiful post to Timeless Thursdays! Hope to see you again soon on the next episodes :)

Thank you, czoczo. The second photo is my favorite as well, I just added the other two for a bit of levity.
DeleteThat are Touching photos!
ReplyDeleteGreetings Elke
Thank you, Elke, that's sweet of you to say.
DeleteHello, love the photos of your Godparents and Oliver. He is a sweet dog. I am glad they are relaxing the visitation rules. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend! PS, thanks for the comment and visit.
ReplyDeleteYou too, Eileen, glad I got out early, it seems oppressively humid right now. The Little Rat Boy is one of the sweetest dogs ever.
DeleteShe is a beautiful lady! And the dog is cute!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful candid portraits. Wishing your aunt a speedy recovery. You stay safe too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and photos.
ReplyDeleteStay safe.
Haven't been able to visit my mum in her retirement home for over 3 months
ReplyDeleteOur good friends back home have a son in his fifties that had a massive stroke a year ago and now lives in a care facility. There have only been two visitation days since March, Mother's Day and Father's Day. Both were held out doors with social distancing. Because of his mental health needs, he can now be visited in the facility by his dog for one hour once a week. It has been a very hard separation for both. There were lots of hurdles to get approval but the facility has been so supportive. They drop the pup at the front door and the care workers take care of the rest. An hour later Molly is returned to go back home with our friends. - Margy
ReplyDeleteI love that you were able to have a real-life visit with your godmother. And of course Oliver made it even more special. She looks like a woman who has always been kind and happy ... it shows in her face.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I did as well, Sallie. I got to see her last week and yesterday and she's near the end. It's very sad and so hard for my little cousin, who is on her own. Yes, the Little Rat Boy visited my father as well. My Godmother has always been very kind to me and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Deletewhen I found out I was adopted, I found out my birth father was Italian, first gen. I dream of having a big Italian family somewhere who might want me... his name was Earl L. Cerrone (sp?) know him? ya never know
ReplyDeleteLeeAnna
I don't know that name, but I bet someone in the family does. You're always welcome to join ours, sweetie.
DeleteDidn't know you had an Italian background! I thought, cheese, Wisconsin, that's got to be N. Europe:) Your aunt looks like a lovely person! And dogs love her - she's gotto be a good person:):)Thank you for sharing with All Seasons this tender moment with your aunt! Have a lovely weekend and great upcoming week, jeanna!
