But Aunt Em, the Irish aunt who still doesn't have her car due to getting stuck in last Monday's flood, got us a last minute banquet hall.
His hat bugs Cubs fans too so I like it |
The reunion started in the hot muggy air on the side of the building and everyone spilled back out there when we closed the place down.
Big bro is quite skilled in the blowing of bubbles while the little guy just likes a mess |
The Dempseys close places down a lot.
Doesn't let the bubble on his head stop him from coloring EVERYTHING blue violet |
The kids had bubbles and chalk which provided some entertaining photos.
My cousin, Cotton Candy Bubble Gum |
When I asked lil' cuz if he liked his full name or the short version he said he wants to be called, "Bubble Gum" or "Cotton Candy."
Cotton Candy Bubble Gum, The Little Mermaid, Crook and Bubble Gum's mom |
A family of brindled German Shepherds unleashed themselves in the parking lot in front of us and we found out they were training to be police dogs.
Copper and Crook, police dogs in training and major goofballs |
That's still lots of water, but it looks like your family reunion was a big hit.
ReplyDeleteLove the two goofball dogs. Goofballs are fun.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
The big lake, the one near me, went down 2.5 inches so yippee. Of course they surround that bit of good news with enough to make you start day drinking.
DeleteYes, it did go well even though it was insanely humid. Those dogs were a hoot and a half and a few of us went swimming after so yup, it was good.
I sure am glad everyone got to have a good time anyways. Those dogs were sure having fun!
ReplyDeleteNot as much fun as you guys I'm sure but they flew around like the wind.
DeleteLooks like those kids had fun at the reunion!!! Amazing photo of the water...
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, the kids always manage to have fun. The teenagers, I'm not so sure about. Now when I look at that playground water I think, "snakes."
DeleteFun times!
ReplyDeleteRe your query on my post - The barber shop is adjacent to the laundry, not clearly seen in the picture. Shall post a separate picture of the barber shop later :)
Okay, I just looked and didn't see it so will look forward to your post. I think a barber shop is a fantastic subject, especially where you are and bet it'd look good in b&w.
DeleteThe police dogs in training crack me up. All serious on the job, goofballs off duty. That would make for a good sitcom like Bob's Burgers. Love that photo of Cotton Candy Bubble Gum -- the bubble on his head. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteThey were a wild bunch, but the guy said the kids shouldn't go up to the dad who had a training collar on. They were beautiful and the mom looked like, "Oy, enough." Cracked me up too.
DeleteI guess you can always count on change when making plans! Sounds like there was a great time for all in spite of the challenges. Kids don't really care much either way, I think!
ReplyDeleteI think it would have been a disaster with them splashing about the park, Betty.
DeleteWow! That place DID get flooded!
ReplyDeleteI am glad Aunt Em came through and I hope her car gets repaired/replaced soon.
Thanks for sharing your family reunion!
- Lisa
I don't really know what happened there, I should probably check up on her.
Deletegeez that rain was bad 'bubble gum' looks like it was fun, all easily cleaned up #keepingitreal
ReplyDeleteHe was made to clean up all that blue chalk before getting in granny's car.
DeleteLooks like you all had fun. Too bad about the flooded park though. And I hope the dogs didn't hurt each other
ReplyDeleteI got pretty sick after this so I guess I did, Mary! [; The pups were fine, it was a mom and dad and two siblings who were happily playing and running around like furry lunatics.
DeleteBoy your family really knows how to roll with the punches. Oh my good lord I read the previous post and how utterly awful... Hope things are improving. I am so glad that your Aunt found a spot so your reunion could go on. Since she is such a miracle worker I wonder if she could send a little of that rain our way. (It never seems to be distributed right does it?)
ReplyDeleteThey do, those hearty Irishmen. It was up and down and all very last minute. I spent the first few hours of it sleeping in which I guess should have told me I was getting sick. But it was close by and I had a nice chat with some cousins when I did show up and got to be one of the last to leave which is always nice.
DeleteMaybe the local department of water resources can work something out with OR (which I always think of as wet) so they can stop dumping it in the street.
It sounds like a great reunion, despite the previous worries. I love the name Cotton Candy Bubble Gum, I wonder what his favourite sweet treats are :)
ReplyDelete#keepingitreal
Ha, I just hope he spits the bubble gum out, Anne.
DeleteHi Jeanna, a family reunion on some thrown together rafts would have been worth photographing and at least you could have slung Cotton Candy Bubble Gum in the water to clean off. I will say he has a fine eye for colour!... I wish it rained bubbles here, in fact, at the moment I wish it would start raining here. I've had enough of the heat, it's still reading 30C+ at night and that is not normal for September... What beautiful looking trainee police dogs. I've never seen a brindle German shepherd before... Zola, has now got a huff on. She likes to think she is the only brindle dog in the world!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and linking up.
xx
I would have agreed with you until I saw a picture of some guy pointing out a big ass snake casually swimming down his hometown street. Yes, he was all about the blue violet chalk which is one of my favorite colors.
DeleteBubbles would be a nice change although we finally had a nice day today which I spent inside. That's sooo hot, we had that not long ago and the humidity is stifling, but we're starting to get a break at night. I don't know how you live w/out AC. Yeah, those dogs were gorrrg eous and so is Zola. I don't recall a recent picture of her, maybe I'll hit you up on Twitter with a request.
