Art DTour

The Farm/Art DTour is one of my favorite things but they didn't have it last year and the year before my car plotzed en route.

The Red Piano I was talking about, Sallie
Sauk County was hit hard by flooding they haven't seen since 2008 and the Great Flood of 1993.

Two years is a long time to go without visiting farmland art installations and I'm knocking on swollen wood that Cha Cha (yes I named my car) and I will be getting lost in the enchanting fall air again this October.

These photos are from 2016 when I persuaded my cousin to drive me while Cha Cha was being shuttled from one incapable (keeping it clean) mechanic to another.

We found this Red Piano at Ableman's Gorge in Rock Springs (still in the major flooding category).

Warning:  I got a virus after linking to the creators of the Red Piano at the Reedsburg ArtsLink. It happened when I tried to update Flash. It looks like Virus Scanner Plus fixed it and the Reedsburg ArtsLink home page is fine.

  4. That red piano is such a statement. How amazing would it be to sit and play in such a setting.

    1. I had the brightness turned down on my laptop and didn't know the photos were so vibrant, and that's without editing.

Sorry about the virus, but glad it didn't give you much grief.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

    1. Ahhhaaa, Sandee you meant the Virus I got from the fake Flash update, I can't watch football and read comments I guess. Yes, although I'm still wary.

  9. Oh my gosh Jeanna -- that red piano!!! It's wonderful and even better sitting there all proud and bright and beautiful at the bottom of that rock cliff. I'd rather see this bright red one than the hippy murally one I saw here. (Is murally a word?) Hope you get to go on the tour again this year, but I should point out that some of us have gone a (long) lifetime without ever seeing art on farmland! (I would seriously love this tour though.)

    1. It's cool, isn't it? I loved it when people sat down to play and kept thinking I was in an old timey western hotel that had moved their pianey outdoors for a spell. Well the hippy murally one reminded me of it and it was nice and painterly (is that a word?). I do too, but Rock Springs is still a major flood hazard along with Baraboo so I don't know what's going on. I emailed the organizers but nothing back yet.
I got spoiled after a few years of it and was crushed when they didn't have it in 2017.
Something tells me I could use you guys on this trip since I get so very lost every time I go. You would laugh if you saw how well I planned for it and STILL got hopelessly lost.

  10. Art on farmland, I'd do that tour with you, Jeanna. The red piano exhibit reminds me of a coffee table photo book published in the late 1970s or early 1980s with photos of a red couch in different outdoor places. Wish I still had it.
Our car is called Eliza Doalot. She finally revealed her name this year, after 25 years. What took her so long. Cheers to you and Cha Cha!

    1. And I would love to have you, Susie. It's nice to meet people along the way but I need someone who wants to see every bit of it then do it all over again because they missed something. Is that you? Every year I vow to color code and use common sense when navigating, oy, the notes I have all over maps and print outs and somehow I lose my way. It's a nice area to get lost in but how that happens in like a 50 mile radius every year...
Ooh, that is a great idea for a coffee table book, does it turn into a couch or coffee table?
Eliza Doalot, ha! Just you wait Susie Mac, just you wait, you'll be sorry but your tears'll be to late (sung in Cockney accent). I assume you play the stage version of MFL when traveling with her. 25 years, blimey!
I'll let her know (yes, I talk to her too).

    2. You're the first one to get the reference for Eliza. The Husband and I did a good rendition of "rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain" the other morning.
I try to see everything, but usually run out of time.

    3. I was a weird kid forever getting broadway musical lps from the downtown library and learning them by heart so, yeah, and I'm still mad the film role didn't go to Julie Andrews. I respectfully request you tape your next duet. (I don't mean to rhyme, must be the musical memories.)
Same here, best intentions, anal retentions. Damn, there I go again.

    1. The Fermentation Fest is slated for Oct. 5-14 and I see a list of artists for the Farm Art/DTour so unless something gives because of all the flooding over the last month it looks like it's on.

  15. You're having some fun with your comments, I see! Yeah I remember another fall that you posted art located in the most unexpected places! Remember a red one, but can't remember it was a piano. Does Cha chaa also do her dance?
Enjoy exploring some more art this week! Thanks for keep All Seasons informed of the creations you see:):)

    1. Ha, I do enjoy comments (; I did post a few pics of this piano in 2016, then they didn't have the DTour in 2017. I think you would LOVE it. There have been little houses in fields and large croquet mallets and ginormous boots and a wooden wall with a tractor in it and a giant earth worm sticking out of the ground and an installation with taps that dispensed some kind of fermented drink—can you tell I love this part of festival?
Cha Cha does road dance, one two three cha cha cha vroom.

    1. Here's the blurb from the Wormfarm Institute, Betty:
A humble turn-of-the-20th century upright piano gets a brilliant facelift and, with YOU at the keys, an encore performance in the magnificent natural amphitheater within Ableman’s Gorge.
We saw people playing it while we took photos, it wasn't by itself for long.
