The many pools of hopefully receding water have made this a top destination for mosquitos and too much time on my hands has made
the University of Wisconsin's Department of Entomology pages a top destination for me.

Why did the sunset split in two again and didonejustflyinmymouth, didonejustflyinmymouth
|
|
Who needs a tripod—is that a mosquito or a bat? |
|
This is better but where is my tripod, how many beach towels do I need in this car and why is this entire duffle bag full of beach towels? At least I didn't get any branches in the shot |
|
Okay, wide depth of field, focus manually, all sunset, no bokeh and no mosquitos.
The next day all they found was a camera and a pile of hair
|
Lovely sunset and a gorgeous final photo.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Fi, I think you're being very kind. It was a buggy disaster without a single good photo to show for it.
Delete:-). lovely sunsets with or without tripod.
ReplyDeleteThey're examples of good intentions gone bad. I really like your photo and shared it on Twitter (for whatever that's worth).
DeleteThe only thing to do is hide from those biting buggers!
ReplyDeleteThey'd make a quick meal of you, Brian.
DeleteHello, pretty sky captures. I love the shot with the sailboat. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteI respectfully disagree. I got tree branches in the shot, which pretty much ruined it. You too, have a nature walk for me.
DeleteThe mosquitoes found a home and you found the mosquitoes. Not a good thing. I hope you heal up quickly.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
They are the original ankle biters, Sandee. Guess I better pay attention to the excessive mosquito warnings.
Deletewe've destroyed so many species what's one more. They have the technology to sterilize them... couldn't bats learn to eat something else? Mosquito poisons sprayed in the air nearly killed me in MD. Sterilize them I think.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's being done here just that they're even more of a problem because of all the flooding. Also that the West Nile and Jamestown Canyon viruses have been on a dramatic rise in WI.
DeleteHaha!!! This post cracked me up!!! Been there...done that!!! Love the sunset! Just how many towels did you have in your bag??? And did you ever find your tripod???
ReplyDeleteThe entire bag was stuffed with towels, K.! No, I have NOT found the damn thing. I believe the level of stuff in that car has gotten away from me.
DeleteI wonder whether I'd like my photos shot with the steadiness of a tripod. Where's the fun in clarity and sharpness? Would we no longer get a cool photo like the alien octopus in your car mirror? I despise mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteI am horrible about using my tripod and I was so determined to do so before a Wicked Witch type army of bugs picked me up and carried me off to the Haunted Forrest. But alas, it was buried somewhere in a pile of cr*p. Ha, I was even steadying my arm on the open car window for that one. A fine example of the exact opposite of what I was trying for. A depth of field and focus fail I think.
DeleteA camera and a pile of hair... that made me laugh! I do like the last photo in the rear view mirror. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI think you're normally in more danger of that happening to you, especially if you're playing with sidewinders. Not what I intended, but thanks.
Deletejust thought I'd add... Go Badgers!!!
ReplyDelete24-21 right now (down by 3), LA!
DeleteI am itching in sympathy.
ReplyDeleteWent for round 2 yesterday but not nearly as bad as this was.
DeleteAnd as mentioned above, using mosquito nets are on of the most common method that people from all walks of life utilize. travel mosquito net
