Making Tracks

There were a lot of people out today. It was sunny and 5˚F so everyone was taking advantage of the reasonable weather before things got ludicrous.
People were in the grocery stores sweeping things off shelves like it was a zombie uprising but they were also swooshing through the snow and fishing on frozen lakes.
Even the neighborhood deer were out for a stroll.

Taking advantage of the above zero weather. Good for them

Pilates is really paying off, mom

For Sandee, "Awww."

    1. There's a story in the local news about a cop finding a wee black kitty shivering in the snow. He scooped it up even though he is allergic and brought him home even though his wife is allergic to kitties too. They found allergy pills that worked for both of them and all three are safe and warm.

Haaa, you followed the link? (: T
here are sooo many deer in that area, it's almost like a herd or maybe it is a herd, I don't know.
Sipping tea by the fireplace and laying low today.

    1. Oh nooo, Sandee, 5 is the new 40. They're now consistently saying -60˚F wind chill. So many deer very close by. One jumped right in front of my car.

  4. That poor deer is up to her knees in snow! But she’s probably a strong Wisconsin girl and can handle it. Brrrr.

  5. Hello, it does look cold there. We will have some super cold temps this week and snow tomorrow. Love the sweet deer, I hope they handle and find food in this weather. Enjoy your day and have a great new week ahead!

    1. Hi Eileen, I was wondering how things were going out east but the weather news is all about the midwest. I know you guys got slammed with snow storms while we were sitting pretty. Ahh, those days of ignorance were bliss.
I hope so too but since it's private property I shouldn't really bring anything out to them but maybe I will anyway since I'm making a Farm and Fleet run to look for bird food.
Fun fact, it's only 15 degrees colder on Mars than what they predict for this week here.

    1. It was considered "pleasant weather" (quoting imaginary people) at 5˚F and sunny. I did find I had to breathe into my lined coat collar when I was at the pump which steamed up my glasses. And I think the time before frostbite could set in was still "reasonable" (more imaginary people).

  8. Nice wintry photo's, when we get extreme weather in London everything comes to a standstill even the underground trains we just cope with any weather LOL

    Have a snowytastic week :-)

    1. I suppose they get cold too, Steve. The last few days have been full of closings and cancellations and we're a hardy group. I'm thankful my car died in its stall in basement parking cuz I don't think I'd make it out there.

    1. Brrr is right, I don't want to even think about stray cats in this weather. I actually opened the garbage room door so any animals left out there could get in. Don't tell anyone.

    2. That didn't sound right, what I mean is that I AM thinking about all the critters out there but the thought of them not being found is heartbreaking.

    1. Thanks, these deer amazed me but a security guard (who told me I couldn't take photos) acted like it was an every day occurrence.

    1. Oh man, Frodo, I am still laughing. I bet you are frozen solid up there, Hair Balls, but I haven't heard it mentioned on the news because of all the frozen hell on earth in the midwest. I was taking it in stride by preparing until my car wouldn't start this morning and after that I've been spooking myself with "what ifs." And also, I don't know the last time I got a new battery, DOH.

    1. I shot most of the photos of the last week from the car. I hope you get more wood soon. Ice fisher photos have a tendency to be a lot duller than they seem in person.

    1. Au contraire, it was understood to be the last "nice" day before the true insanity started. Let me check the temp right now...-11˚F heading toward -25˚F tonight. So warmer than predicted. Most of those guys (pretty much all guys) have high tech clothing and tents and some pretty sweet fishing shacks. I'm pretty sure there are heaters too. But the old school guys are hanging out there with a line and a hole and a prayer.
