Say Cheese! Thumper

Well, I shouldn't have tried to stain that spot on the closet door without removing the door first and now there's a splotch on the rug and it looks like I'm sporting a groovy goatee and Audrey Hepburn gloves. And did you know the little drops fly everywhere when you hammer the lid back on?

I'm getting squirrelly on my not really a day off. Eek, did someone say, "Squirrel." Oh, that was me. See what I mean?

There were both tp and paper towels at the Old Farts Shopping Hour Sunday morning so that's something. I freaked out a little when my cashier started coughing and sucking up snot. At least it was her own snot.

I didn't boil the hand she put a coupon in like I wanted, but I did throw out the celery she bagged because it was open ended.

This is my bike, Thumper. I didn't ride her at all last year. Do you like her new orange pedals?

Was that an over reaction, under reaction, you shouldn't be out shopping in the first place or, "But you look so young, Jeanna, why ever were you at the Old Farts Shopping Hour?"

Old, Young, Cycled, Recycled, it's time to SAY CHEESE!

    1. Yeah, I thought bigger pedals might somehow help with my balance issue and they may not have been the answer but they sure didn't hurt.

    1. We even have people opening the door for us. There are some youngins sneaking in there but I feel many of us looking around and thinking, "Holy shit, am I as old as the rest of these fossils."

    1. I bet you are wrong, Yogi, LOL! But fortunately I have an old fat ass bike seat that's holding up pretty well. I can't wait for anything more than it's not raining, and in the 40s.

  4. We would have thrown out the celery too, yuck! The peeps here haven't been to Old Farts Shopping Hour yet.

    1. Yeah, it was too much for me, I was one more card swipe from losing it. (She couldn't get my card to work.) I'm glad you all have each other to cheer on.

    1. Yeah, I do too, Carol. I haven't been back to that part of the Sugar River Trail I like but it was a nice change of scenery. Just a bit too far.

    1. Ta, Pat. I've gone just the once and it was a little more nerve wracking than I hoped, but heartening to see most things I needed in supply.

  7. Half of my children are of the age to be eligible for old farts shopping hour, which is very odd since I don’t really feel old enough myself. Grocery clerks need paid sick leave.

    1. Even though I don't have any kids of my own, I know what you mean, Sallie. And you certainly don't seem or act very old. That was a compliment. Yeah, I wish I could give paid sick leave to our caregiver since we're down to one. Hell, I wish I could give myself paid sick leave.

  8. I'm questioning everything I buy. My work still has us here, and I don't want to be here at all. But my husband got told he couldn't work at this moment. Someone has to.

I love your bike's new wheels.

    1. I was already questioning everything I buy due to diabetes and the need for a big ol' amount of weight loss. I bet you don't want to be there, it's scary. My stomach is in knots which is actually good for the diet. Well, having the hubby at home has advantages too I bet. I think CO is a bit ahead of us in cases, but we both know how fast things change. Keep getting outside and visiting other bloggers. I'm trying to do the same here.

Here's to reason and decency returning to America! And TP for everyone!

    1. Returning? Hrr rumpf. Yes, toilet paper for all, what a campaign slogan that would be. Do you remember when Trump was throwing around paper towels in Puerto Rico? Takes on a whole different meaning now, doesn't it?

    1. Don't worry, I had enough words for several people, the whole thing was messed up. Thank you for hosting as well. I just read something about South Africa going into lockdown.

  11. Sounds a bit messy at your house, but I'm sure you will get it put right soon!
Love your bike, I wish I could ride but my thyroid messed with my lower legs and they don't work like they should :(

I'm so happy you are a part of 'My Corner of the World' this week!

    1. Oh no, Betty, maybe some future PT could help. The only reason I can ride now is because I lost a buttload (pun) of weight and got into a post PT strengthening program. Yeah, my apt needs some tlc, and the laundry needs to stop procreating.

  13. Am very persnickity about bikes (because I'm Dutch), but I like yours - it looks very sturdy! Sorry, a youtube today about how to make socks got me so engrossed, I totally forgot about all the Tue memes till dinner:)

    1. I bet you are, J, and I thought from the title of your linked post that's what you were blogging about. Thumper is an older model Neko Trek, some of which are made here in WI, and she is a sturdy beast.
She's got custom fit raised handle bars, new orange peddles, a cushy wide bottom seat, handy clip on pannier, extra under the seat storage, emergency pump, water bottle holder, front and rear reflectors, super bright front light, some kind of shock absorption which you can reach down and adjust while riding and a nice rack (ha).
I must hear more about these socks.

  14. From one old fart to another, Hey! I like your Thumper. My pink beach cruiser's name is Tilda-Hilda. I haven't ridden her in about 3 1/2 years because of my knees. Supposedly bicycling is good for the knees, so I really ought to give it a try. Maybe my knees won't hurt. I do miss riding Tilda-Hilda. We're gearing up to go to the grocery store tomorrow or Thursday, as early as we can get ourselves out the door. That's a cool lane you were pedaling on. I'm envious.

    1. Hey there OFBB (Old Fart Blogger Bud)! Thumper is a good girl but I may be crossing the stream, gear wise, cuz, well, I'm an idiot. I like the name Tilda-Hilda, is there a story there? I wasn't riding Thumper more than once or twice a year for about 8 years and last year, not at all.
I've heard that about biking being good for knees, but from my experience, your knees have to be up to the challenge. Same thing with swimming. Let me know how grocery shopping went, I was going to go today, but another restless night.
The paths are the Glacial Drumlin and Sugar River trails, two of my favorites. The last photo is recent and taken in a nearby park where people were crowding me in and getting on my last nerve. I found a better place yesterday, but still too crowded for a misanthrope like myself, virus or not.

    2. Tilda-Hilda took me all over. Together we pedaled up steep hills and along country roads. It kept me almost sane, for which I'm sure the Husband, the late great Mama, and Molly were glad.
Grocery shopping was easy-peasy. We try to shop organic as much as possible so being they cost more, there was a good selection at the store. No paper products or water, which we didn't need. I was surprised to see the empty shelves in the baking section. We ought to be good for at least another 2 weeks. Take care out there, Missy! Big hugs.

    1. Yeah, I noticed the closest grocery store is less crowded than expected, but no type of sanitizing cleaners whatsoever. There are notes saying, "Take just one," so that's promising. If I took you on a ride today you'd hear a lot of grinding gears.
