This was waiting for me when I came out of Shopko today. I had a flashback to when I was 14 and stole some makeup from the downtown Woolworths. I saw them when I went in and thought, "Too bad I don't have my camera, wonder if the place is being robbed."
But I had my tough camera in my purse and snapped some shots on the way out. It was set on black and white which turned out to be fitting. A cute cop immediately came up to me and said, "Just taking some pictures, huh?"I showed him the camera and asked what was going on. He said, "Nothing."
Dang, I never thought a pocket camera could be mistaken for something else, maybe I should have gotten blue instead of maybe-someone-overreacting-would-mistake-this-for-a-gun-black.
Two of the three cop cars followed me down two long streets to the Beltline and then some for good measure. It could have gone very differently.
Something odd happened with this photo, cropped and using the noir filter in Photos |
Cropped and saved in Elements, I think I like the weird one better |
What a capture!
ReplyDeleteI would never be brave enough to point the camera in the first place.
I must say there really is something about the first image with it's blue hue.
Shit, I was a bit nervous but only in the way you are when pointing a camera at anyone, it never dawned on me they might think it was a gun.
DeleteInteresting filter! What I know of the US police, I think I would have been too scared to take the picture. That said, it's a pretty cool story. #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI wasn't thinking and I guess white privilege and my age made me approach them without using a telephoto lens. But mostly my dad was a cop and I was raised to think of them as my friends (unless I'm driving).
DeleteNice photos, I too would have been slightly scared of taking their photo
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
I guess you can use a crummy camera that's always with you or not get the shot, but times like this I miss a good telephoto lens. Hope the ankle is healing.
DeleteWow you were brave, I'd have been rather more scared I think, fun filter
ReplyDeleteThat filter isn't supposed to do that, lol. I bet I couldn't get it to do it again either Fiona. I was just acting out of habit and had to get in closer because I was using a cheap pocket camera which makes you seem further away than you are and takes bad telephoto shots.
DeleteCome to the Netherlands ... here you can take a few photos of the police cars, even with the policeman next to you! Do not understand what is wrong with this?
ReplyDeleteYes, I do Ella, and being the daughter of a cop and a damn good one, it makes me want to cry.
DeleteDid you ever find out why they were there?
ReplyDelete#mysundayphoto
No, but yesterday I heard someone was busted at the Boston store across the parking lot for stealing $100 worth of merchandise which I think is so not worth it. They caught her with a weapon or weapons and drugs although I don't know what kind. I don't know if this happened around the time I took this photo or not, but that's all I got.
DeleteShopped, cropped and copped at the same time is pretty good!
ReplyDeleteEven weirder, Brian, when I went in and chose mono instead of noir no blue. And that blue shading never happened before with that noir filter and I'm sure isn't supposed to.
DeleteSomething was going on. I'm sure you'll read about it in your local paper. Then again, maybe not.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
I'm keeping my ears open but the only thing close to an explanation is a shoplifter across the lot that had a gun and drugs.
DeleteScary time but you did get a great shot.
ReplyDeleteAnd not shot. I really should have gone closer since the pocket camera makes things look further away. I should have also asked the cute cop if I could take his picture.
DeleteI like "weird" photo, too. Feels more sinister and exciting. The officer was observant, which is a good thing. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be a computer glitch, a few things are going on this laptop, but I do like it and can't duplicate it. He was even tempered and friendly which is what to see.
DeleteYes, I like your first filter:) Because it's unusual. A story about cops, which reminds me I have one, but I have to find a good pic to illustrate it, for one of the Seasons posts. They followed you ...maybe you were "really" a journalist, or something like that (crooked smile). Thank you for that mysterious share for All Seasons - have some more (good) mysteries this week, Jeanna!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like it too but can't get it to happen again, JSG. Let's hear that story soon, okay? My cousin said they were probably getting my license plate and calling it in, but I still think that's overkill for some old lady with a pocket camera.
